§ 5.01. Elections: regular and special.

  • A.

    All City elections shall be conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code.

    B.

    The regular City election shall be held annually on the second Saturday in May or such other date as required by the Texas Election Code. The Council shall be responsible for specifying the places for holding such elections.

    C.

    The Council may, by resolution or ordinance, order a special election for purposes consistent with this Charter and laws of the State of Texas. The Council will fix the time and places for such a special election and provide all means for holding same.

    D.

    Municipal elections shall be conducted by election officials appointed by the Council, or as otherwise prescribed by law. Sample ballots identical in format to those used in the specific election shall be posted in the voting place(s) for the purpose of voter orientation.

    E.

    All municipal elections shall be publicized in accordance with the Texas Election Code.
