§ 24-24. Probation and certification.

  • The chief of police and all police officers hired by the city shall be considered to be on probation for the first six months of their employment. Each such officer shall, within one year from the date of his employment by the city, if he is not already certified, take the necessary courses of study and training so as to receive a certification from the state commission on law enforcement officers. In addition, all such officers shall continue such educational and training programs as the chief of police, in consultation with the city manager and upon authorization by the city council, may from time to time require.
