§ 18-221. Notice to remove—From private property.

  • Whenever it is brought to the attention of the chief of police that a nuisance under the provisions of this article exists in the city, he shall give or cause to be given to the person maintaining or suspected of maintaining such nuisance, in writing, a ten-day notice, stating the nature of the public nuisance on private property and that it must be removed and abated within ten days, and, further, that a request for a hearing must be made by such person before the expiration of such ten-day period. The notice required by this section shall be mailed, by certified mail, with a five-day return requested, to the last known registered owner of the junked motor vehicle, and lienholder of record, and the owner or occupant of the private premises whereupon such public nuisance exists. If the notice is returned undelivered by the United States Postal Service, official action to abate the nuisance shall be continued to a date not less than ten days from the date of such return.
